Many graduates at Prince George Secondary School excel in Academics, Leadership & Community Service. 

We aim to provide as much assistance possible to ensure that these future leaders get access to scholarships, bursaries, grants & awards. These opportunities help and assist our polar students with their future pursuits.

SD57 Award Application Info

The School District 57 Awards program will open for grads to apply starting on January 17, 2024. The application deadline is February 20, 2024. 

Please read over the attached instructions to prepare your application and determine which awards you want to apply for. Some scholarships and bursaries require specific documentation. 
 
You will need your PEN# and at least two reference letters as well as information about your interests, accomplishments, work and/or volunteer experience and post-secondary plans. 
 
If you are applying for bursaries you will need to complete a Declaration of Income form.
 
We will be hosting a session at PGSS during T-block to assist students with their applications. Please watch for the date TBA.

 

Application deadline: February 20, 2024

In preparation for applying for School District Awards, you will need to have a minimum of two reference letters. Some awards also require specific letters of support, or documentation of membership/participation.

Please complete it and provide it to your reference when you ask if they are willing to provide a reference letter for you. The information in this form will assist references with writing a comprehensive letter.

The BC Excellence scholarship is awarded to 55 well-rounded high school graduates who have demonstrated service and leadership, both at school and in their communities, and who show aptitude for and commitment to their chosen career or area of post-secondary study. The deadline to apply is February 15th, 2024, and PGSS can nominate one student. The Financial Aid & Awards team at CNC is putting together the Student Community Leadership Annual Scholarship for graduating students in School Districts 57, 91, and 28. One eligible student from each School District will be selected as a recipient of the award upon their attendance at CNC in the following Fall semester. NEW PROGRAM: Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering

We're thrilled to share some exciting news with you - applications for our brand-new Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering program are now open!

 

In this five-year program (with mandatory co-op), students will learn to design cutting-edge hardware systems, develop software solutions and optimize computer networks. This program is truly where design meets technology in the most exciting way.

Students uncertain about their educational commitment can apply for our open admission associate business program. Graduates can later return to TRU to complete the Bachelor of Business Administration.

BCSSA Grade 12 Scholarships

The British Columbia School Superintendents Association will award six regional scholarships to students planning to pursue post-secondary studies.

Students wishing to be considered for a scholarship must be currently enrolled in their final year of studies at a public secondary school in British Columbia and expected to graduate in June 2023. One recipient will be chosen from each of the six BCSSA provincial chapters (Fraser Valley, Kootenay-Boundary, Metro, Vancouver Island, Northern, Thompson-Okanagan). Each recipient will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

In selecting the recipients for this year’s awards, the scholarship committees will consider demonstrated distinctive leadership that has made significant impacts to the social, ethical and collaborative fabric and practice of school(s) and community. Letters of reference will be required affirming the applicant’s accomplishments and efforts to improve the quality of life and foster diversity, equity and inclusion. The applicant must submit a short description (450 words maximum) of how their leadership has made a difference in the life or lives of others in their school and/or community. Leadership examples may include, but are not limited to, the following domains: arts, trades, physicality, scholastics, social justice, equity, well-being, diversity, advocacy, and cultural responsiveness.

The recipients will be announced in late spring 2023.

The Center for Epilepsy & Seizure Education in British Columbia 

is currently accepting applications for the Jaymie-Lynn Memorial Bursary Program for the year 2024. 

Details of the Jaymie-Lynn Memorial Bursary Program 2024:

About Jaymie-Lynn Robertson:

Jaymie-Lynn Robertson, a vibrant young woman who cherished life passionately, left us too soon at the age of 23 due to SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). Despite being diagnosed with epilepsy at 20, Jaymie-Lynn refused to let it hinder her love for working with children and animals. Her resilience continues to inspire all who knew her.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be between 17-19 years of age
  • Be entering college or university studies in a BC post-secondary institution
  • Be a Canadian citizen

 

Application Requirements:

  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Submit a 300-word essay on how epilepsy has impacted your life

We encourage eligible students to apply for this bursary, which honors Jaymie-Lynn's spirit and aims to support those whose lives have been affected by epilepsy. The award is not solely based on academic achievements but also takes into account financial need and a personal essay.
